Analyst predicts UTA men's basketball team will secure bid to 2020 NCAA Tournament

Junior guard Brian Warren drives past his opponent during the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Championship final against Georgia State University on March 17 at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Mavericks are predicted to make the NCAA tournament this season.

The men’s basketball team was predicted to secure a bid in the 2020 NCAA Tournament by basketball expert Andy Katz.

Katz placed UTA in the No. 15 seed against second-seeded Seton Hall University.

The men’s basketball team has fallen one game short of the NCAA Tournament for the past two years. Both times, Georgia State University cut UTA’s chances in the Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Championship final.

UTA’s first and only appearance in the tournament came in 2008. The Mavericks compiled a 21-11 record before falling to the University of Memphis by a score of 87-63 in the round of 64.

The Mavericks will tip off their 2019-20 season against UT-Dallas at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at College Park Center.
