Rep. Diane Patrick, R-Arlington, who represents the district UTA falls in, was named vice chair of the Texas House Committee on Higher Education Thursday, according to the Texas Legislature website.
The nine members of the committee were announced Thursday morning. Rep. Dan Branch, R-Dallas, was named committee chair.
The Texas House committee on Higher Education handles proposed legislation that deals with higher education in Texas.
Branch has already filed bills relating to higher education. HB 25, which he authored, would require 25 percent of a public institution’s state funding to come from outcomes-based measurements. Branch also authored HB 29, which would require university’s to offer a fixed tuition rate to students for four years.
