Green beer and Irish nachos are a St. Patrick’s Day staple at J. Gilligan’s.
The local bar and grill is hosting its 37th-annual St. Patrick’s Day block party and street dance on March 17.
Owner Randy Ford said they will have live music inside the bar and outside on the patio. The musicians include Deryl Dodd and the Homesick Cowboys, a bagpipe player, Morning People and The Stingrays.
Ford has known the bagpipe player for more than 40 years and said he has played at every St. Patrick’s Day party at J. Gilligan’s.
He said they will serve green beer and their famous Irish nachos. There isn’t a set time for the event because people flow in and out all day, Ford said.
“St. Patrick’s Day is huge for us,” Ford said. “It’s kind of like a reunion and a gathering. It’s a place to have a party.”
The event has grown from 100 people the first year to about 6,000 people, Ford said.
