The Boom at Noon is an inconsistent tradition at UTA where a 75 mm Pack Howitzer announces the beginning of Homecoming. Pack Howitzers are an artillery piece developed in the 1920s and still in use by militaries around the world.
School spirit has two parts. This Homecoming, some students focus on the spirit part and will attend several of its events, such as The Bash, the parade and the game. Others will be keeping their eyes on the school part and stay in, studying.
