2017 Uta Fraternity Sorority Directory

WELCOME TO FRATERNITY
AND SORORITY LIFE AT UT ARLINGTON!
BENEFITS OF FRATERNITY & SORORITY MEMBERSHIP
Dear UT Arlington student and family,

We would like to welcome you to UT Arlington or if you are a continuing student, welcome back. On behalf of the office of Student Organizations and Fraternity and Sorority Life we thank you for your interest in joining a fraternity or sorority here at UT Arlington. Our genuine hope is that you are able to find an organization that offers you lifetime friendships, networking beyond UT Arlington, and a place to call home. We are dedicated to assisting you through the recruitment process and beyond.

Since 1968, fraternities and sororities have been deeply rooted in the fabric of UT Arlington not very long after the institution joined the UT System. These organizations began with humble beginnings as local groups which transitioned to the national organizations we now recognize on campus. This small collection of organizations soon transitioned into the UT Arlington fraternity and sorority community. A community that today, almost 50 years later has grown to include 36 fraternities and sororities with over 1,200 members. Students come from all walks of life and discover the experience of a fraternal values based organization.

The process to join a fraternity or sorority may seem overwhelming but we assure you that membership in one of organizations is worth it. Finding your home in one of these organizations will take some exploration on your part. We encourage you to explore organization web-sites, social media, and get out and meet the men and women of fraternity and sorority life. Making a decision to join an organization should be based on how you align with the organization’s values and the current members that would eventually call your brothers or sisters. When joining an organization you are joining a network of students and alumni, these men and women become your home at UT Arlington.

We wish you good luck in your recruitment process, if at any time you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out. Our office is located in the Lower Level of the University Center, room 160 or you can find us online at uta.edu/fs

In Maverick Pride,
Dr. Johnny Robinson, Assistant Director
Kelli Vincent, Director

LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS
Joining a fraternity or sorority is the beginning of a new experience with new friends and the creation of a home away from home. By joining a fraternal organization, members become part of a larger national organization and find that they have brothers and sisters all over the world.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
UT Arlington offers many opportunities for,men and women to become involved. Participation in a fraternity or sorority allows for numerous occasions for a member to become a leader on campus and within one’s own chapter.

ACADEMIC SUCCESS
Fraternities and sororities provide members with an opportunity to earn academic awards, recognition and scholarships. Each organization offers academic success programs that could require study hours, offers tutoring sessions with other members, or possibly mentoring opportunities.

PHILANTHROPY & COMMUNITY SERVICE
In the fraternity and sorority community at UT Arlington, we encourage more than just making new friends within one’s chapter. Getting involved on campus and off allows you to help your community and give back to those around you.

In 2016, the UT Arlington fraternity and sorority community hosted Relay For Life, raising over $13,000 in its first year. Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries.

“To bind men together in a brotherhood based upon eternal and immutable principles, with a bond as strong as right itself and as lasting as humanity; to know no North, no South, no East, no West, but to know man as man, to teach that true men the world over should stand together and contend for the supremacy of good over evil; to teach, not politics, but morals; to foster, not partisanship, but the recognition of true merit wherever found; to have no narrower limits within which to work together for the elevation of man than the outlines of the world: these were the thoughts and hopes uppermost in the minds of the founders of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.” —Otis Allan Glazebrook, 1880”
