Women's golf places second in tournament

Freshman Sydney Garber hits the golf ball March 21 during ORU/ SFA Spring Break Invite at Trophy Club Country Club. Garber led the Mavericks placing 10th at 19-over-par 235. 

The women’s golf team registered its highest finish in program history, placing second at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Invite on Wednesday at Trophy Club Country Club.

UTA posted scores of 323-316-305 for an overall score of 80-over-par 944.

Freshman Sydney Garber led the Mavericks, placing tenth at 19-over-par 235.

Garber was followed by freshman Kate Tran, who tied for 18th at 22-over.

Freshman Madigan Murray placed 23rd at 24-over while junior Rachel Phillips trailed one stroke behind in a tie for 24th at 25-over.

Freshman Allison Wade rounded out the Mavericks tied for 31st at 32-over.

Next up for the women’s golf team is the Little Rock/A-State Invitational from March 26-27 at Maumelle Country Club in Maumelle, Arkansas.
