Golf director Stuart Deane snagged a first-place finish at the Joyce Crane/Veritex Bank Section Championship on Tuesday in The Colony, Texas.
Deane finished the event at 11-under-par 131, eight strokes ahead of the runners-up.
“I played really nice for two days. I made five bogeys, but other than that I played great, so I couldn’t wish for anything different,” Deane said in a PGA press release. “I didn’t play last year because we had our first [UTA] women’s golf event. I was leading the points list last year but didn’t get to play, so this year I had some motivation.”
With the win, Deane earned an exemption into the 2019 AT&T Byron Nelson along with a $4,500 check. The exemption signals the fifth time that Deane will participate in the Byron Nelson tournament.
Tuesday’s victory gave Deane his third Section Championship and his 14th overall individual major championship.
