Damaging winds and heavy rainfall are possible as a “line of thunderstorms” is expected to move through the Metroplex continuing into early Monday morning, said Monique Sellers, National Weather Service meteorologist.

The primary concerns are wind gusts and heavy rainfall, Sellers said. There is a potential for hail, and there is always a potential for tornadoes in these types of weather patterns.

There may be some localized areas of flooding, she said.

The Office of Emergency Management is monitoring the potential for severe weather and will provide updates as necessary, according to a city of Arlington tweet.

Small chances of rain and storms will continue into Wednesday, Sellers said.

The last few weeks have had a pattern of severe weather, which isn’t typical for this time of year but not unheard of.

“We don’t always see severe weather lasting this long into late spring and into the summertime,” she said. “This is just one of those years where it’s happening.”
