The Metroplex is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 3 p.m., according to Monique Sellers, National Weather Service meteorologist.

The Metroplex could see wind gusts up to 60 mph and up to an inch of hail, Sellers said. The thunderstorm should move quickly so residents shouldn’t be expecting more than a quarter inch of rain, if even that much.

There is also a severe thunderstorm watch until 7 p.m.

UTA sent out a MavAlert warning students about the severe weather and they seek shelter until the storm passes, but said to resume normal activities at about 2:20 p.m.

Shelter in place means students should take refuge in a building or stay in the building they're currently in.
