The Maverick Military Dependents student organization will host a yoga session at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Physical Education Building upstairs gym.

Yoga for Warriors will be led by yogi Jason Smiley from the Lone Survivor Foundation. The Lone Survivor Foundation was established by Marcus Luttrell, U.S. Navy SEAL veteran, to assist veterans and their families in dealing with invisible injuries from war, according to the foundation’s website.

Paul Magallanes, broadcasting senior and veteran, met Smiley while on a retreat with the foundation. He said Smiley taught him breathing techniques and stretches to help for relaxation and sleep.

“Whenever I go on these retreats, I basically get as much information as I can and then relay it to all the veterans on campus,” Magallanes said.

Magallanes said anyone having difficulty sleeping or chronic pain is welcome to attend the free session, not just veterans.
