Student government shares plans to increase participation in 2019-2020

Members of student government on Aug. 16 in the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs building. Student Body President Gavin Mitchell, middle, said one of the goals he is focusing on is increasing participation numbers.

Students will have the opportunity to meet their Student Government representatives during Greet Your Government from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in the Palo Duro Lounge.

Chief of Staff Honest Kapic said all the different aspects of Student Government will be represented, including the Program Assistance Fund and a voter registration table. Students can also meet the leadership team and speak to their college senators.

“There’s a chance to meet business senators if you’re a business major, there’s a chance to meet liberal arts senators if you’re a liberal arts major,” Kapic said. “These are the people who write the resolutions that get passed for the colleges and the campus.”
