With daily chances of showers and thunderstorms this week, the Metroplex could be in for a rainy Independence Day on Thursday.
“Fourth of July is probably going to be the day that’s got the greatest chance of rain,” said Dennis Cain, National Weather Service meteorologist.
Thursday has a 30% chance of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
Because the storms should be scattered, celebrations will likely be unaffected, Cain said. The biggest threat could be lightning for those throwing parties near lakes.
“The chances of precipitation each day is probably more than a typical summer,” he said.
Tuesday looks to have the lowest chance of precipitation, Cain said.
The weekend’s forecast should be drier but could have isolated showers, he said.
The average high will be around 90 degrees each day, he said.
