DALLAS — If you’ve been searching for a Ringo Starr action figure or an Indiana Jones 1984 movie poster, you’re in luck.

Lula B’s Antique Mall sells odds and ends from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s and serves as the perfect place to find vintage jewelry, clothes, old toys and knickknacks galore.

“For most of the customers, it’s a trip down memory lane,” store owner Mary Ann Kaylor said. “They see stuff that makes them think of their childhood.”

Lula B’s gets its merchandise from the 50 dealers who rent store space to show off their treasures. Each dealer’s space is designated by a painted section on the wall.

Information

Stepping into the store is like taking a step back in time. Every dealer space contains items like mid-mod sofas, original Beatles records and old typewriters and cameras.

Besides the old furniture and clothes, Lula B’s is known for its vintage cowboy boots. They’re as abundant as the records, with a pair or more in virtually every space.

Accountant Mark Bowdoin opened Lula B’s Antique Mall in 1992. After retiring in California, he returned to his home state to care for his father and eventually became interested in the antique business. Lula B’s is named after his mother, Lula Bowdoin.

Kaylor and Patrick Springer, who have been dealers in the shop for 10 years, bought Lula B’s in 2005.

The store has received praise from the Dallas Observer and The Dallas Morning News and received “Best Scavenger Hunt” from Best of Dallas and Reader’s Voice Awards.

Kaylor said a lot of customers come through three or four times a week, and who can blame them? Despite the shop’s small space among the larger businesses on lower Greenville Avenue, it’s impossible to get your fill in only a couple of hours.

So, if you’re interested in furnishing that new apartment with ’60s furniture or just wanting to add an original Star Wars toy to your collection, this place is worth a visit.

“We’ve seen it all,” Kaylor said.
