As rumors swirl that media mogul Oprah Winfrey may step away from her ever-popular daytime talk show in a few years, one must wonder who is poised to take the talk show crown from the elder stateswoman. Tyra Banks has said she’s inspired by Winfrey but isn’t trying to be her exactly, and that’s evident when watching her own self-titled talk show. Staffers Rueben Gonzales and Anthony Williams discuss Banks’ style and her growing media empire. Gonzales: Janet was on Tyra today. Williams: Really? Williams: Was it a new episode? Gonzales: I think. I don’t keep up with that hag. Williams: Lol, wow. Gonzales: Except every Wednesday. Well of course I don’t normally keep up with her, because she’s a little insane. Like in a “my weave started to grow into my brain” kind of way. Williams: I don’t think so. But then again, I don’t watch her that often, lol. Williams: “Best Week Ever” always makes fun of how she makes her talk show about herself. Gonzales: It’s true, she has this amazing ability to plug her show while she’s doing her show. Gonzales: I clocked it today, and she was on in a picture-in-picture box, while she was taping herself talking about Janet Jackson. Gonzales: She was never off the screen for more than two seconds. Williams: That sounded confusing. Gonzales: That’s Tyra. Just picture a TV with her face in it at least twice for an hour everyday. Williams: I like her OK, but I don’t keep track of either of her shows. I haven’t watched “Top Model” since ... I don’t know when. Gonzales: It’s actually pretty good, though it hasn’t been getting good ratings. Williams: They’re good ratings for the CW. Gonzales: Is it because it actually includes a mixture of races, unlike the other shows? You think that’s why it’s ratings aren’t better? Williams: I think it’s just ’cause it’s on the CW. Gonzales: I think the CW’s target audience may have issues looking at women who, though they may be rail thin, don’t look like the Abercrombie models they think they are supposed to look at. Williams: Hmm... Gonzales: And I can’t imagine them knowing how to process transsexuals. Williams: “She look-a like a man.” Gonzales: Not any man I want to date. She looks female enough to me. Williams: Yeah, I told myself to catch it but, alas, she got the stiletto boot. Gonzales: Well, she had lazy eye issues. And other issues south of the border that she wasn’t comfortable with. It affected her performance. Gonzales: On the show. Views: 877 | E-mail
