The President’s Sustainability Committee will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the University Center Carlisle Suite to discuss environmental policy.
Committee co-chair Jeff Howard, an Urban and Public Affairs assistant professor, said the meeting will be dedicated to the organizing and orienting the committee by setting goals. Howard said the committee has organized nine work groups dedicated mostly to administrative issues like energy conservation, curriculum and research. He said each workgroup will sort out its functions and goals. According to the committee’s Web site, it was launched in October by President James Spaniolo to facilitate development of effective environmental policies that encourage a sustainable environmental footing. Wednesday will be the committee’s second meeting. The committee has a blog detailing its mission, meeting times and agendas, and relevant news.
