Unravel a new project with wrapping handle bars [Cyc-ology]

Don’t you hate it when you start a small project, and it turns into an several-hours-long endeavour?

I had been putting off rewrapping my handle bars for a few months now. A little fall awhile back revealed part of my handlebars and the rust buried under the tape. I knew that meant rewrapping would be a little bit of work, so naturally I put it off.

Bike month in the Metroplex [Cyc-ology]

May is National Bike Month, so I went to the League of American Bicyclists’ website only to find there were no official National Bike Month events in a 60 mile radius.

I found it hard to believe, so I went and found some upcoming events in the Metroplex for anyone who wants to celebrate Bike Month.

Keep the Earth Day spirit year-round

Wednesday is National Bike to Work day, as dubbed by the League of American Bicycles. It also happens to be Earth Day on campus, since the national holiday is on Sunday.

Bike to Work Day focus on the benefits of cycling to work, from personal health to societal impacts on environment and even financial savings. Earth Day festivities on campus range from electronic-waste recycling to sustainable lunch foods and, of course, the Maverick Bike Shop will be there, too.

Fort Worth ride to brewery goes awry [Cyc-ology]

If at first you do not succeed, try, try again. It’s a little cliche, but it never fails to ring true.

Last week, some friends and I tried to ride to Fort Worth and back. We were going for the Wednesday Rahr Brewery tour, so we got in a little trouble when we drank our fill and everyone needed to find a ride home. The other thing that got us into trouble was the massive headwind the whole way there.
