Alumna Lisasette Moore thought something was missing in Arlington when she attended the university.
“We didn’t have a place that was close we could go to,” she said. “We always had to drive to Dallas or Fort Worth for a good time.”

Faith Artists, a group of like-minded Christians, is looking to intrigue viewers with its latest exhibition, A Walk with C.S. Lewis. The organization’s mission is to create visual art to glorify God.
C.S. Lewis, who has penned a variety of fiction and nonfiction books, most notably The Chronicles of Narnia, had a unique way of displaying his faith, artist Kendra Walden said. Faith Artists, she said, looks to create out-of-the-box experiences through art.
Dallas Biennial to display new volumes of digital and physical art

Beginning Friday, more than 20 artists from 10 countries will showcase their works at the Dallas Biennial. The inaugural event will address the “phenomenon of the biennial.”
The event is curated by C.J. Davis and art and art history adjunct professors Michael Mazurek and Jesse Morgan Barnett.
Art senior’s exhibit portrays the talents of disabled athletes

In a photograph, a young man is shooting a basketball into a hoop. At a closer glance, the viewer will see the man is in a wheelchair. Through his photography, Jeremy Schack tries to convey the message that a person with a disability does not have limitations.
The art senior is showcasing his work in “Art of Sport,” a solo show at the Access Gallery in Austin. The art is based on paralympic sports that highlight the Movin’ Mavs, UTA’s wheelchair basketball team. The exhibit will also feature short bios of the athletes, a video and inspired quotes from Schack’s poetry. At the opening reception, Schack will give a concert featuring his electronica music.

Glass senior Josh Hargrave takes molten glass out of a furnace burning at 2100 degrees. He intricately shapes molten glass with tools creating leaf petals for a small rose.
This is the type of live demonstrations visitors will see at the annual World-Class Glass Art Show and Sale. Pieces on sale include works done by faculty, staff and undergraduate and graduate students. Shoppers can buy pieces ranging from $10 up to more than $1,000.
