UTA fell to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers 5-2 Friday at Clay Gould Ballpark.
The Mavericks trailed the Panthers by one after the first inning and remained scoreless through five innings until a sacrifice fly scored sophomore outfielder Aaron Funk.
The Panthers scored a run in the seventh inning to increase their lead to 3-1.
The Mavericks had a scoring opportunity in the seventh, but sophomore infielder Noah Vaughan struck out, stranding three runners on base to end the inning trailing 3-2.
In the top of the eighth inning, the Panthers added two more runs off Mavericks junior pitcher Adam Meyer.
The Mavericks recorded two walks in the bottom of the ninth, but Vaughan struck out, leaving two runners on base and ending the game.
