Due to the weather on Oct. 15, many students found themselves stranded in campus parking lots because of the rising flood waters, as a result of no drainage around the sidewalks. The weather that day was not severe because of rain, but rather because of the wind. However, many parking lots around campus caused flooding over the curbs onto the sidewalks leaving no exit for those students and faculty to leave the parking lot, but rather to find a different route to get around the high waters. It is inconvenient for both students and faculty to have to walk longer in the rain because of the lack of sufficient drainages around the parking lots to prevent flood waters from rising. It is bad enough to have to walk in the rain, but to stay wet throughout the day, for those that commute, because they had to jump over puddles to get to the other side of the street makes matters worse. UTA should greatly consider doing some construction around campus to prevent floods and make more drainages so the students and faculty do not have to suffer throughout the day walking around with their feet wet, or worse, stranded in a parking lot. — Rosemary Estrada is a mechanical engineering sophomore Views: 1716 | E-mail
