Music
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra present Concerts in the Garden. The orchestra will play Beach Boys hits on Friday, Elvis music Saturday and Big Band music Sunday. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and concerts start at 8 p.m. Lawn tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the gate. For information, go to fwbg.com.

Local musicians will join together at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Irons Recital Hall for a benefit concert helping children affected by the earthquake in China. Performers include the Fort Worth and Dallas Symphony Orchestras. Tickets are $15.

The Steve Miller Band performs with Joe Cocker 8 p.m. Friday at the Superpages.com Center. Tickets are $25 to $79.50 and can be bought at ticketmaster.com.

Theater and Art
Kitchen Dog Theater presents its annual New Works Festival starting Friday and running through June 28 at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary. It features seven plays chosen from across the country. Ticket prices vary. For information, go to kitchendogtheater.org.

The Dallas Museum of Art has an exhibit from On Kawara, an artist who creates large-scale paintings of numbers, words and everyday images. Tickets are $5 with student ID. For information, go to dallasmuseumofart.org.

Is this the most over-promoted schlock since Kevin Costner did "Robin Hood?" I thought nothing could be more annoying than the "Free Credit Report Dot Com" jingles, but that was before this all-pervasive advertising of SJparker's R-rated urban affairs was unleashed.
