Ceramic artist to present sculpture art slide lecture
Visiting ceramic artist Colby Parsons-O’Keefe will present a slide lecture from noon to 1:30 p.m. today in The Gallery at UTA, Room 148 Fine Arts Building.
Parsons-O’Keefe is a clay assistant professor at Texas Woman’s University.
Art associate professor Nicholas Wood, head of ceramics in the Art and Art History Department, invited Parsons-O’Keefe to speak after seeing some of his work.
“I wanted to pick someone who was relatively local,” Wood said, adding that because Parsons-O’Keefe is a teacher, he thought he would be a good speaker for students.
Wood said the art presented will include sculptures with projected film images.
“There’s a ceramic piece on a pedestal, and digital images are projected onto the ceramic piece and onto the wall,” he said.
A reception with free food will follow the lecture.
For information, call Wood at 817-272-7329.
