Semester’s final EX.C.E.L. movie shows at 8 tonight

EX.C.E.L. Campus Activities hosts Wild Hogs at 8 tonight in the University Center Rosebud Theatre.

This will be the group’s last film showing this semester and is free.

The movie follows four middle-aged friends who take to the open road on their motorcycles to escape their everyday lives and experience a long-dreamed-of adventure. The gang of couch potatoes experience multiple comedic experiences, including encountering a real motorcycle gang called the Del Fuegos in New Mexico — bikers who are not pleased with the group’s antics — as misadventures ensue.

Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy star in this comedy-adventure.

The event includes free popcorn and concessions available for purchase.

For more information, call Student Activities at 817-272-2963.

Department hosts lecture by Toronto philosopher

The Philosophy and Humanities Department hosts a lecture on evolution and rationality at 3:30 p.m. today in 101 College Hall.

University of Toronto professor Ronald de Sousa will discuss how rationality plays a key factor in the evolutionary process. The lecture encompasses the subject of values that can be used for survival not necessarily being correct in the grand scheme of things.

The department will also host a reception at 2:30 p.m. in 305 Carlisle Hall. Cookies will be provided, and attendees will be able to discuss the topic with de Sousa before the lecture.

Philosophy chair Denny Bradshaw called the event a way for students to see an internationally-renowned philosopher speak on subjects heard about every day in class.
