Pinkberry had it’s grand opening on March 26, 2010. Pinkberry is located in the Highlands, which is off of I-20 and Matlock. (The Shorthorn: Will LaVoncher) A Hollywood treat known for grabbing the attention of celebrities and health aficionados has made its way to the Arlington Highlands. Pinkberry, a California-based frozen yogurt powerhouse focused on its straightforward menu of frozen yogurts, toppings and design, opened its newest Dallas-Fort Worth location last month. Thursday. the Arlington Highlands’ Pinkberry is giving UTA students and faculty free yogurt for showing up with a Mav Express Card. “A lot of people trying Pinkberry for the first time are not sure what to expect,” said Adam Saxton, Pinkberry brand manager and Saxton Pierce Restaurant Corp. principal owner. “They come and are overwhelmed by what they see.” Walking into the store, customers approach a counter where Pinkberry’s “Goodness Guy” individually handles each cup. Patrons choose to fill it with their signature yogurts and finish it off with a selection from more than 20 toppings. Pinkberry regional director Matt Heston said taking care of each individual customer is a quality that makes the store different from other yogurt spots. Pinkberry hand cuts all of the fruits and toppings everyday, and offers a variety of healthy and organic alternatives. (The Shorthorn: Will LaVoncher) “It’s the add-ons that get you,” she said. “As long as you’re smart about your choices.” When Pinkberry started, it had only an “Original” tart yogurt and Green Tea, but has since then added new flavors, like Chocolate, and seasonal treats like Pomegranate. Its newest addition is a 100 percent fruit-pureed Mango. Although yogurt is the main attraction, supplementing this non-fat dessert are toppings special to Pinkberry. Organic fruity bears, shaved milk chocolate and vanilla animal crackers accompany all of its daily, hand-cut fruit. Saxton said Pinkberry adds to the customer’s environment with its design, even down to its pebble-strewn floors that give flashes of a beach-front venue, to be a destination and social place for people. Started in 2005, Pinkberry is the collaboration of a restaurant owner and an architect that now has franchises in New York and various locations in the Middle East. Views: 918 | E-mail
