The free tickets, which are required for most Maverick Speaker Series speeches, had all been called for earlier this week, university spokeswoman Kristin Sullivan said. Johnson will be speaking to a full Texas Hall, which houses 2,700 seats. “He’s a popular speaker, and people want to hear what he has to say,” Sullivan said. The NBA Hall of Famer will speak about his book 32 Ways to Be a Champion in Business, and copies will be available for purchase. Sullivan said an autograph or book-signing portion isn’t planned with the speech. She said the university has seen other speakers and events sell out within four weeks like Johnson’s, and it shows how important events like this are for the community. Tickets for the next speakers in the series are still available. Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, will speak on Feb. 15 followed by legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin on March 24.
