Staying on campus gives students access to several things, and being able to enjoy the Super Bowl is one of them. Residence halls and on campus venues offer plenty of opportunities to watch the game without having to break a sweat or wallet. The University Center Bowling and Billiards is going to have its two projection screens and big screen TV going for the day of the game. Because the game falls on a Sunday, students get all-inclusive pool and bowling for $3. Bowling shoes are included. Marketing senior Gayatri Desai has worked for Bowling and Billiards for three years and said they usually get a good turnout on Super Bowl Sunday. “Everything is open for students,” Desai said. “We get people that come in and bowl, and since it’s the sunday special students take advantage of the deal.” No official parties are being held in residence halls, but all have the ability and resources for residents to join in for a party, with TVs and adjoining kitchens to whip up some game-time grub. Residents will get together regardless if there is a party, said Jerome Kirby, Arlington Hall resident advisor. “It usually happens no matter what,” Kirby said. “And since we have so many TV areas we could have one side for Colts and another for the Saints.” Breakthrough Church is hosting a Super Bowl party at the Maverick Activities Center in the main lounge upstairs. It is a free party for students with food, prizes and games, with a projector and several flat screen TVs to watch the game. Also, the event is a food drive and fundraiser, partnering with Souper Bowl of Caring to support Mission Arlington and Haiti. Views: 396 | E-mail
