Meet your spring 2010 Scene reporters.
Jason Boyd, Scene Editor Name: Jason Boyd Age: 23 Major and Classification: Journalism senior. If you could only have one CD to listen to for the rest of your life, what would it be? This is tough, but I’ll go with Muse’s Origin of Symmetry. It has a great mix of songs — slow, fast, hard, soft — but it’s all brilliant. What TV show are you ashamed to admit you watch? There’s so many to choose from — Tough Love 2, For the Love of Ray J, Tabitha’s Salon Takeover — but I’m not really that ashamed. What’s your favorite commercial or TV show jingle? Sanford and Son’s. “Bwah-da-da-dah. bwah-da-da-da-da-da-dah, bwah-da-da-dah.” What song gets you pumped up the most? The White Stripes’ Death Letter. It’s an old blues song by Robert Johnson. Man, oh man, does it get my blood running smooth. What’s your favorite street? Elm Street in Dallas. It’s where I discovered live music. Even though it’s on its last legs, it’s still gorgeous. If you could pick one superhero’s uniform to wear the rest of your life, whose would it be? Gambit. I love the trench coat and the purple chest plate, but I’ve got to say, I love the weird headband thing. It’s so ’80s but also so punk rock. I used to tie Ace bandages around my head in the same shape… TMI?
Sara Pintilie, Reporter Name: Sara Pintilie Age: 22 Major and Classification: Journalism Senior If you could only have one CD to listen to for the rest of your life, what would it be? Good News for People who Love Bad News by Modest Mouse What TV show are you ashamed to admit you watch? Say Yes to the Dress… I am as anti-marriage as they come, but I always find myself watching this show. What’s your favorite commercial or TV show jingle? A Hummer commercial from a couple years back. A kid soapbox race is happening on a top of a hill and this one kid car has a hummer. He plows straight down the hill, the others weave around on the path, as The Who’s “Happy Jack” plays in the background. Awesome. What song gets you pumped up the most? “List of Demands” by Saul Williams What’s your favorite street? Drury Lane. I heard the Muffin Man lives there. If you could pick one superhero’s uniform to wear the rest of your life, whose would it be? Rogue’s. She has a jacket and I get cold easily. Not to mention the awesome yellow gloves and the belt that somehow stays put though it isn’t attached to anything. That’s my kind of belt.
Andrew Plock, Reporter Name: Andrew Plock Age: Borderline 21 Major and Classification: Journalism. Junior? If you could only have one CD to listen to for the rest of your life, what would it be? Tough. A lot of music to sift through, but the Blue Album by Weezer is something I could listen to all day, everyday. It was the first CD that made me pick up the guitar. What TV show are you ashamed to admit you watch? House Hunters on HGTV. It gets me every time. What’s your favorite commercial or TV show jingle? The Meow Mix jingle is timeless. I want chicken… What song gets you pumped up the most? Doesn’t necessarily pump me up, but definitely puts me in a good mood is “Oh Comely” by Neutral Milk Hotel. What’s your favorite street? Camp Bowie in Fort Worth — lots of food choices, and a few music venues. Plus, it runs right into the new 7th Street renovations and entertainment on the outskirts of downtown Fort Worth. If you could pick one superhero’s uniform to wear the rest of your life, whose would it be? Spiderman. Because with a skin-tight suit, he hides nothing and leaves little for the imagination.
