THURSDAY

CAT 5 Woodwind Quintet Recital
Where: 7:30 p.m. Irons Recital Hall, 105 Fine Arts Building

Guest artist, CAT 5, brings its woodwind style to the university Thursday night. Danilo Mezzadri brings his flute and piccolo accompanied by Anna Pennington on the oboe and English horn, and that’s only 2/5 of the band. Tickets are free.

FRIDAY

Asian Arts and Crafts
Where: noon, Student Congress Chambers, University Center lower level

Join in festivities as part of UTA’s Asian Heritage Month 2009. Those interested can learn the art of calligraphy and henna. There will also be refreshments and door prizes for those who attend.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Where: 8 p.m. Lone Star Auditorium, Maverick Activities Center

EXCEL Campus Activities will show the summer blockbuster, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince this Friday. The film follows the sixth year at wizard school for the magical youth, Harry Potter. EXCEL will also have free popcorn.

The Fourth Kind
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Elias Koteas
Rated PG -13 for violent/disturbing images, some terror, thematic elements and brief sexuality

Shot in a half documentary, half thriller, The Fourth Kind follows psychologist Abigail Tyler as she gets close to discovering alien contact. The patients she works with have similar stories, all pointing to aliens.

The Box
Starring: Cameron Diaz, James Marsden
Rated PG -13 for thematic elements, some violence and disturbing images

This film drops an ethics bomb not only on the characters but the audience as well. Viewers will inevitably place themselves in the same situation as Norma and Arthur. The couple is offered a unique opportunity when a man ask them if they’d like to push a button. Pushing the button grants them $1 million but kills a stranger.

The Men Who Stare at Goats
Starring: Ewan McGregor, George Clooney
Rated R for language, some drug content and brief nudity

Reporter Bob Wilton finds the perfect story when he meets Lyn Cassady. Cassady claims to be a soldier reinstated for duty. What makes Cassady and his unit special is that these soldiers have been trained to walk through walls and kill goats with their minds.
