InformationFor more information on student organizations for engineering, visit http://www.uta.edu/engineering/student_orgs.phpEta Kappa Nu is geared toward electrical and computer engineering. To be considered for membership, students must be a junior or senior in the top quarter of the class. Students can become eligible for the national Tau Beta Pi by being a junior in the upper eighth of the class or a senior or graduate engineering student in the upper fifth. Students helped the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department with painting light poles and maintaining playgrounds at the park. Biomedical engineering senior Zarna Bhavsar helped pick up leaves at the park. She said she wanted to join the organization because it provides job opportunities. “It gives students reorganization,” she said. “I want to do biomedical research after graduation.” Electrical engineering juniors Bishwas Khanal and Sheng-Yun Lin were invited by the two honor societies. Khanal said the park clean up is a good program because it helps the community and the environment. “I like doing community service and working as part of a team,” he said. Lin, who wants to pursue a career in computer engineering, said he enjoyed doing the work because he likes volunteer work. “It feels good to help the community,” he said. Electrical engineering graduate Bhavik Adhvaryu said was very happy to get an invitation from Tau Beta Pi. “This is a very proud honor society for engineers,” he said “There are many successful people within this organization.” Students got barbecue for their volunteer work.
