Australian music artist Xavier Rudd will perform at the House of Blues Dallas on June 19.

The show is a part of Rudd’s dark shades of blue North American tour. Known for his unique sound, Rudd incorporates various instruments including the didgeridoo.

In an interview with The Shorthorn Rudd had trouble defining his music but said, “It’s ‘rootsy,’ — eclectic with Australian Aborigine.”

He said his sound is unique because he never had formal training. Rudd added he wasn’t interested in school music programs, so he taught himself.

“I do my own thing,” he said. “I do what I do.”

Rudd said his show will be different with high energy and dance but overall the show is a cultural experience.
