Coming to the Arlington Highlands on March 5th, Splitsville is a step away from the nachos and fries at the local bowling alley. Originating in Tampa, Fla. in 2003, Splitsville manages to put a new spin on bowling.Sample Menu:Three Pepper Calamari- $9Tiger Roll- $11 Pepperoni Pizza- $11 Cheeseburger Sliders- $8 Fuji Chicken Salad- $10 Instead of a concession stand in the front, Splitsville went with a live sushi bar. Why not, right? Featuring a menu from Tim Cushman, recognized by Food and Wine as one of the Best New Chefs in 2008, Splitsville offers sushi from Kamahachi, signature sliders, pizza and other items. The lanes are in groups of 2 to 5, with music, food, dancing and bowling filling the restaurant. “Nowhere else in the great state of Texas can you get the kind of entertainment experienced here,” managing partner Scott Wilkinson said. The lanes are scattered throughout the restaurant, creating a new feel to the traditional bowling alley. The nooks and crannies of the restaurant create a more private setting than most other places. On nice Texas days, accordion-style walls open and booths swivel around for an outside dining experience. This location features the world’s first-and-only permanent outside bowling lane located on the 4,000-square-foot patio. The restaurant includes a dance bar with a Disk Jockey booth and three different bar areas. The contemporary design of metal railings and leather booths blend in with the retro chairs and multi-colored tiles. Plasma screens sit above each lane and touch-screen computers enhance the fun. Dazzling lights and the pin machines’ glass casings allow for the mechanics to be seen. “In times like these, people just need a place to take a break,” Wilkinson said. One bowling game costs $5 per person during the week, $7 on weekends and shoes cost $4. Lane reservations vary throughout the week depending on the day. Most items on the food menu range from $8 to $10 with pizzas costing $11 to $12. Signature dishes including filet mignon and steak fajitas are more expensive costing $13 to $19. Views: 642 | E-mail
