A woman was written a citation for simple assault Monday at Centennial Court Apartments.

The woman was yelling threats and beating on a vehicle occupied by two other women, one of whom is her neighbor. University police Sgt. Jim Owens said the investigating officers have been unable to determine the cause of the confrontation. He said he did not know if any of the women involved were university students.

A handicap sign and pole were reported missing March 30 from the faculty lot south of University Hall and the Life Sciences Building.

On Friday, a parking meter at Davis Hall was found knocked off its pole, and the pole flattened. Officers investigated the matter as a hit and run accident, as no information had been left at the scene.

Two students were given citations for minor in possession of alcohol at Doug Russell Park early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to a disturbance call Friday evening at the University Center following a Delta Sigma Theta step show. The crowd, which had become unruly after the performance, was dispersed by the officers and told to leave the area. Owens said the event was in violation of a written University Center policy that requires security to be provided for such events. No security was provided, and a Police Department investigation is ongoing.

On Tuesday, officers responded to a complaint of water balloons and eggs being thrown at passing cars from an apartment in Centennial Court. The investigating officers determined that water balloons had been thrown but found no evidence of eggs. Four students were identified as the responsible parties and were given disciplinary referrals to the Office of Student Affairs.

Officers were called back to Centennial Court Apartments that same day to investigate a student’s ongoing complaint of harassment by her ex-boyfriend. The man, who is not a student here, previously had been issued a criminal trespass warning for the woman’s apartment, but Owens said that a warning could not be issued to keep him away from the entire complex. He said the man frequently visits friends who also live in the complex and that no other residents had made complaints against him.

A Tennis Center storage building was discovered broken into on Sunday. Investigating officers found evidence that someone had rummaged around in drawers and cabinets but nothing appeared to have been taken.
