Halftime at the Hall PDF Print E-mail

It's 30-29 in favor of the good guys here at halftime from Texas Hall. No team has really been able to establish the momentum as it's been close throughout. UTA's largest lead was six at 7:16 and SFA had it's largest lead, two, at 19:15 to play.

The Mavs have held SFA off the offensive glass and lead the total rebounds 18-15. What is hurting UTA so far in this game is free throws. One of five (20 percent) is not going to win any games against any opponent.

Second is just about to start. Sorry for the long time gap in the blog, the internet was spotty at best. Stay tuned to continued coverage from Texas Hall.

University President James Spaniolo, athletic director Pete Carlon, the team and coaches stood at midcourt to see the 2008 SLC championship and NCAA tournament banners drop from the rafters.

Although it was nice to see, there was a misstep in presenting it as it dropped before Spaniolo spoke to the crowd. Oops!

(11-4, 3-0)
(9-7, 2-1)

It's a new semester, and what a better way to start of The Shorthorn sports blog with pregame notes between the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks and the UT Arlington Mavericks.

This game has special meaning to it tonight because prior to the game, the men's 2008 Southland Conference tournament championship banner will be presented before the game.

As far as the game goes, it'll be an intriguing matchup between the two. It's the 54th meeting with SFA holding a 27-26 series lead.

The Lumberjacks have the powerful duo of Matt Kingsley and Josh Alexander, both in the top 25 in the SLC in scoring.

The Mavs counter with a trio of Marquez Haynes, Rogér Guignard and Brandon Long, all in the top 25 in SLC scoring and then of course the big man inside, Anthony Vereen.

SFA won last year's homecoming game 71-49, which snapped the men's 17-game home winning streak.
